post.php and customize.php do not display properly

  • Hi and thank you in advance.
    I just installed WordPress 5.4.2 on a VPS Unix server. WordPress was successfully installed as you can visit the site. However, clicking on Appearance – Themes shows the default WP themes. Clicking “Customize” on any of them results in a customize.php that just displays text with no formatting. This is also true when trying to edit pages as post.php does not display properly.

    I have already tried:
    – disabling all plugins (only two are installed since it is a fresh WP installation)
    – Adding “define(‘CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS’, false);” to wp-config.php
    – Uninstall and re-installing WP

    I’m at a lost of what to do next. Your assistance is greatly needed and appreciated.
