• Wordpress Version: 5.3.2
    Theme: Divi 4.0.9

My client was trying to upload an image via the normal route of the multi-file uploader and received this message:

    VER-Round-table-with-cross-base-column-base_250x200.jpg
    Post-processing of the image failed.
If this is a photo or a large image, please scale it down to 2500 pixels and upload it again.

    I was asked to investigate.

The message itself was totally unhelpful as the image dimensions are 250×200 px with a file size of 9K.

After a bit of investigation I discovered that the failure seemed to be associated with words in the file name rather than anything else.

The offending words appeared to be column-cross-table-with and I created an image with this file name and it failed with the same post-processing message.

The workaround was to switch to the browser uploader and the images uploaded successfully; both my client’s and the one with the test name.

This is such a bizarre occurrence, but the main problem is a totally unhelpful message that wastes time.

The only thing I can think of is that the multi-file uploader is rejecting a combination of reserved database words in a filename!

Surely that shouldn’t be happening. A filename is a filename.

This also fails and works in the same way in a much older version of WordPress (3.9.30) with a different theme, Catch Evolution.

The error message with the old WordPress version, although not relevant to this was:

    HTTP error.

    Hi
I had the same error as you @joe90wp . The issues I had was that I was missing the imagick PHP module and mod_fcgid in the Apache modules. I have written a short manual here on how to turn it on if you are the admin of your web server.
If you wan’t the non technical workaround that might get you up and running quickly is that you install and use Add from server plugin. That was what I could use until I found my server error.
