• Hey,

I just updated to the latest version and needed to update an article – a long one actually… and after updating the only thing that remain in the front end was featured image, title, tags etc… but all the body disappeared, although still appearing in the edit part.

After many hours of test with and without plugins, and a couple of drafts test, it would seem that if I go above
    Words
    4867
    Headings
    18
    Paragraphs
    86
    Blocks
    120

Then the published or preview version cannot handle the text and present a white body.
Just adding or removing a block seems to make the difference :(((

Actually, after further testing it seems it is a problem with the number of block that cannot go above 120 – after having updated things the page went blanck at 8465+ and 121 blocks, and OK again at 8465 and 120 blocks… and that also brought the whole website down.

The problem is that I have a long text and long bibliography and the article was published in December 2018 and up until now, we had no problem… so I temporarily remove part of the bibliography until a solution is found ?

If you could help, that would be just wonderful!!!
    Thanks in advance

  • Hi there,

Sorry, that sounds super frustrating having your content be just a tiny bit too long.

I’m not aware of any built-in limits on the number of words or blocks in the editor. If you try adding your content back in while you have your browser console open, do you see any error messages? That might help us figure out what’s going on.

    Hello Corey,

    Thanks for answering!
I just tried again, trying to de-activate yoast (as a couple of weeks ago there was an issue with the plugin and I thought this might be this)… but same thing!

I tried thus to have a look at the inspector… and the content is just with no content, absolutely nothing, until the entry footer. I am only acting webmaster, so if I need to dig into the console, please tell me in detail what to do and where to look (so far I only know how to use it to check css… :))

Maybe there is a conflict with a plugin, but I have absolutely no idea which one (I use autoptimize and cacheenabler, as well as woocommerce (membership and subscription).
What is truly bizarre is that I did not have this problem before.

Thanks truly for looking into the issue,
    Have a nice WE,
    Helene

    Hi Helene,

Oh interesting, so to clarify, you can add as much content as you want in the post editor, but then when you try to view the published (or preview) version on the front end of the site, it shows as blank. Is that right?

Another question, is it always the same content that causes the screen to go blank? Could it be that there is a special character or something in the content that is causing the problem, rather than a limit on the number of blocks?
