Post Routing to different pages
-
Hi all,
I’m in the process of redesigning my wordpress site, and i’m looking for some functionality that based on some initial searching seems to be a “square peg into the circle hole” problem, but i thought i’d run it by the forums in any case in case there’s any solutions or alternatives that the more advanced gurus might have for me.
What i’m trying to do is create a hard line between content that i will eventually create as “news/events” content versus content that are Posts on my actual “blog”. I want to be able to create content on the “news” Page that can be chronologically advanced and archived like regular Posts.
I know i can create a category for all “news” Posts and manipulate some widgets and code to essentially create a Page that displays Posts of that category. The thing is, i don’t want content that i create in “news” to show up on my main blog site. My main blog has feed subscribers and a facebook integration plugin, and the content has a distinct personality to it that is very different from content that i would want to put up as “news”. I don’t want to plague my current subscribers or fb followers with that mix of content type.
The simpler answer is to just create two Pages, a “news” page and an “archive news” page and push around content manually. I will do that if necessary, i was just wondering if maybe there was a more elegant solution that could make use of WP’s strength of functionality, such as finding some simple way to script an “exclude” based on category to my main page and my feeds.
Thanks!
