Post Share on Facebook Won’t Display Excerpt

Hi community,

I have searched these forums an Googled the crap out of my problem and can’t find a solution to the following problem. Your feedback would be most appreciated.

I want to be able my users (and myself) to be able share blog posts on Facebook (and various social media), and have the posts’ excerpts be shown, particularly on Facebook shares.

When attempting to share a post on Facebook, I get the following scenario:

The post title shows in the FB share.
Below the post title, the following is displayed: “There is no excerpt because this is a protected post”.
I want both the title and excerpt to display.
I have tried manually entering the excerpt in the post’s edit page. No love. Same outcome.
The post is set to Public, not Private nor Password Protected.
I’m using the Divi 3.0 theme, no child theme.

Any help would be appreciated.
