• I added Post Teaser to my wordpress, it works great. The only problem is that it doesn’t count tags (like img) as words at all. This causes it to act as if it isn’t summarizing anything.
I understand that it summarizes things via p-tags, but is it possible to make it every ~50-100 characters/words without a p-tag?

To add to it, how would I make it so that post teaser will remove any a-tags that are connected with images?

There might be other things I have in mind as well, but I can’t remember.

I tried using excerpt reloaded, but it didn’t work out; images went all over the place… I couldn’t get the more link to display “Continue Reading <Post Title>”, and that the img-tag was shown as non-words – it wasn’t counted as words, so all the images were shown instead of just some.

  • I want really short, about 10-15 word summaries of each post. Like Ginji said, it cuts off at paragraphs tags.

It is possible have it go for every word, avoiding image tags? if not, I would suggest this for the next version.

I’d just like it to avoid [a] tags. And probably (manually) randomly pick a set of images I uploaded in the post to show only in the main index.

    Ginji,

Post Teaser is designed to summarize readable text and it makes little sense for most users to count tags as part of the readable text. However, img tags are counted for the summery. I do think there may be of value to add other means to break a post. I am considering adding more features but it may not be a few more release before I could make a major upgrade to the plugin.

    corrado,

I don’t understand what you are trying to suggest.

I believe corrado is suggesting that the Post Teaser ignores the image tag.

That’d be great. Basically this site has a summarizer which avoids the a href tag and such, plus it seems to allow you to pick what images/text you want to show as the summary… something I’m interested in. I know I can’t type the url, so I’ll just say the key words: Random Curiosity.

    Ginji,

Are you refering to: Random Curiosity

That is a very specific need to maybe a small group of bloggers. I don’t think Post Teaser can progress into that anytime soon.

Also, I do not believe the summarizer on that site does auto summarize. The whole idea of Post Teaser is to be able to tease without the need to specify where to cut-off. If what I think is correct that post on Random Curiosity need manual break and select which photos to show on main page that would mean it is the total opposite with what Post Teaser is design to do.

I don’t believe I will shut out this idea but for now, it’s not going to happen in the near future.

Yes, that site. How is it possible to manually break and select photos/text to show on the main page then?

Yes. Check you Write Post subpanel. The “more” button.

Yea… but more doesn’t allow you to manually break up certain selections like Random Curiosity.

    Ginji,

Let me clarify. When I say manually breaking, I did not mean that it could be done in stock WordPress. What I mean to say is that they have some custom filter they have developed for their blog (plugin or directly onto their theme) that requires manual picking where to break and what pics to show on the main page.

It is not difficult to write such a custom filter but require programming knowledge.

I don’t know if the original poster still sees this topic but for the sake of people that look into google. Here’s a way to do the same as RC:

    Install plugin Less (https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/less/)

And when posting, simply do this:

    “Text/images/into multi-pages”
    (less)
    “text/images/into single page”

And you’ll have the same behavior as RC.
