• I recently installed the post-teaser plugin to clean up my homepage. It’s a fine piece of work (the plugin) except for one thing. Post-teaser wraps each entry in its own div block and this is pushing my secondary content (aligned to the right as a modified sidebar) down so that it starts alongside the third of three frontpage posts rather than alongside the first.

The plugin author no longer supports the plugin and my coding skills are only good enough to get me into trouble, not out of it. I would be extremely grateful for any suggestions as to how to get the side content where it belongs! Thanks.

  • 10000birds,

Post Teaser does not wraps anything into anything. All it does is to remove text over a certain threshold. As far as I can tell Post Teaser is working properly on your site.

There is an upgrade and a new maintainer (That’s me) for Post Teaser. You might want to check out the new Post Teaser page here on www.ads-software.com. I’m still trying to get control on the old wiki site so that I can point people to new versions.

    Weyhan,

I appreciate your response and I did go ahead and upgrade, but that didn’t fix my problem. If you check out my site, you’ll see side content aligned with the third teaser. That’s not supposed to happen. Before I installed post-teaser, it was top-aligned.

Regarding what is wrapped in what, your Post Teaser page states under the FAQ that ‘The teaser text is placed inside a block level <div> element with a class of “post-teaser”.’ I might have expressed the terminology wrong, but what I’m wondering is whether that is where the issue lies.

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi 10000birds,

Sorry, I should have been clearer in my response as well. I did not expect that the new version to fix your problem because the fix was for a problem that only affect WP 2.2.x onwards. I was just merely suggesting that you follow the new official Post Teaser page for future news and upgrades.

I thought you meant the whole post entry when you say “Post-teaser wraps each entry in its own div block.” I did not realize that you are talking about the Post Teaser added text. Sorry.

As a simple experiment, I’ve save your home page and all the files statically on my desktop. I remove the div around post teaser text. Next load the modified page in the browser. The result is still the same.

So the logical conclusion is that post teaser removed something in your post entry that allows the side bar to go to the top.

The best way to figure out what is wrong is to follow the steps below (I would love to carry this out but I these steps requires admin to your site). I also suggest using a browser other then IE for the following.

    1. Save a copy of your homepage as I did (use “file|save” from your browser). Remember to save all files rather then just the html file.
    2. Disable Post Teaser.
    3. Refresh your homepage and save another copy as you did in step #1.
    4. Start removing elements that is not in the first copy of your homepage (from step #1) from your second copy (from step #3). Remove the elements one by one. Each time save and refresh your browser.
    5. When you remove an item that causes the sidebar to be push down, that will give you the clue of what to fix.

    Hope that helps.

I also am having problems with post teaser pushing my side bar menus down below the text/posts in the main body. This is with k2 theme and wp 2.3
I finally just disabled it and moved on to a different product. I would love to see it fixed though as it has more functionality.

    audeojude,

    Stock k2 or modified?
