post thumbnails align to top

  • I’m using post-thumbnails in my theme to crop images and make thumbnails. The problem is, they get cropped from the center. Is it possible to crop images from the top/align to top?

    I found a workaround by editing media.php from wp-includes but does anyone know an easier way to achieve this? I wish the new wp version would have options for crop positions.
