• The following basic functions in the OceanWP theme are not functioning:

    1) within “Blog Entries”–> “Custom Image Width (px)” and “Custom image height (px)” are both non-responsive therefore we cannot adjust the “Featured Image” aka “Post Thumbnail” size.

    2) within “Single Post”–> “Related Posts Image Width (px)” and “Related Posts Image Height (px)”: are both not-responsive

    3) within Settings–> Media –> when the thumbnail image sizes are changed (or any of the image default sizes are changed: all are non-responsive

    4) within the Media Library–> cropping and image modification options are not functioning. Plus, there is no display to indicate the sizes of our uploads nor is there any area to select thumbnail, medium, or full-size when choosing one of these size options as a featured image/Post thumbnail. How do we size or select a featured image if we cannot see the sizes, crop or modify the images?

Essentially, the image features within OceanWP do not work.Bluehost has analyzed this for us and confirmed it is a problem within the OceanWP theme.

Currently, this website we’re working on has 1 theme (OceanWP) loaded, and only 2 add-ons (yoast SEO and WPLite) loaded via BlueHost. There is almost nothing loaded our the site to weigh it down (5 images, and 4 test blog pages). How can a theme already not be working properly when there’s almost nothing to complicate it’s code? Even Bluehost is baffled by the fact that OceanWP theme is unresponsive with regards to image modification.

Do I need to just scrap the OceanWP theme altogether or is this something that is being fixed. It has been 5 months now and these very basic features are still not working. Lastly, unless I buy a package from OceanWP, customers cannot get customer service help, is this correct?

  • Hello @peeveprofessor,

I’m sure Bluehost support did their best.

    1. Functional except for the large image blog layout, so we will consider removing the option for that style.

    2. Also functional.

3 and 4 are default WordPress settings, so not theme related.

May I ask what your original image dimensions and if you are using any kind of optimization, especially image optimization, plugins?

    Thank you

Hello Mark, Thank you for your response. Both the custom image and the Related posts image sizes are not functioning on our site.

To your question, we have Yoast SEO, Vivid Backup, and WPLite plug ins. That’s it.

    Quesions:
    1) If “custom image size” and “Related post image size” are functional, what is supposed to happen to a featured image or related post image when the designer enters specific dimensions?

    2) If we are entering 300px wide & 300 px tall for our “custom image” setting, is there a reason that they are all appearing with different dimensions on the site? We were told that it should modify the sizes of all of the post thumbnails/featured images for consistency across the board? Is this incorrect?

    3) We are at a loss. We enter 300 wide x 300 height- yet every featured image/post thumbnail appears 352px wide x and their heights are all over the place. We could maybe understand if we were entering 352 as our width but even the width dimension doesn’t jive.

    4) For OceanWP, what are the recommended jpeg dimensions we need to use for each image to function properly with this theme? We don’t want to go down the road of having to upload mulitple sizes of every single image. We’ve tried every size in the book and are still getting inconsistent results in this Theme.

    Please help.
    Sincerely,
    Sarah
