• Resolved corkman

    Hi,
I have been running version 2.7 for approx three weeks no problems. This morning log in to create a post. When I save the post my title disappears. Also notice that my permalinks custom setting is not working.I tried to reset the permalinks custom setting to /%category%/%postname%/ and when I go to save the setting it also disappears(does not accept).
Anybody any ideas. ( I did upgrade to 2.71 earlier this week but had no problems since when posting)

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance

    CorkMan

  • Could be a plugin–deactivate one-by-one to find the culprit.

    Michael,
Did as suggested deactivated plug ins until no plug ins were active. This made no difference. I notice that in addition to the Post Title not saving that the tags are also not saved and are lost for each new post.
The actual post box edits are saved.(i.e post content)

    Any more ideas?

    Darn…

    Temporarily rename .htaccess.

Does the title get saved in the wp_posts table? Use phpMyAdmin to determine that.

    Michael,
    Did as requested.
The title does get saved in the wp_posts table.
(along with all the previous attempts at naming the post)
Also when in WP admin the title gets retained and can view the post preview with the post title and tags included therein.

    What next?

Change to the WordPress Default Theme. Do you see titles there?

    Michael,
I have not changed theme to default but the problem seems to have resolved itself. Renaming .htaccess temporarily and going back to correct name .haccess seems to have cleared the problem. All posts, tags and permalinks functioning properly.

    Many Thanks
