Post Title is adding site name – SEO title too long

  • How to ask this question.

    When I create a new post the name often became too long as it would add the site name to the end of the SEO Title giving me something like this > yellowstone-winter-photo-tour-David C Schultz, Photography
    It’s the David C Schultz, Photography that I wanted to remove.

    After reading a few post I went into the Titles & Meta tab and under General I ticked the “Force rewrite titles” setting. I then went into the Post Types tab and under Title template I removed the following: %%sep%% %%sitename%% leaving only %%title%% %%page%% . That “seems” to have worked…but not sure this was the correct way to solve the problem.

    I’m also concerned that having made that change it will have adversely affected previous blog post.

    Very new to all of this so thanks for your replies. Here’s the site if it makes a difference.
