After trying several different configurations I enabled a custom image at the hook genesis_before_entry and it seemed to work perfectly. I was able to put three different images on three different test posts and everything lined up great. If I look at a single post, in full page view obviously, everything is great.

But on the blog home page, the posts are listed with the images only and NO TITLES. The new header image is there, and below that the usual meta info such as date and author… but no Post Title and therefore no way for the visitor to know the subject the listed post or click on the Title to get to it.

I am stumped. Can you help?

    Hi gallilaw,

You have me a little stumped as well…

My plugin was only designed to add custom headers to individual posts/pages/custom post types, so you shouldn’t even be able to add custom headers to the blog home page. Depending on how you blog homepage is setup, what you might be seeing is featured images of the posts.

If you have a link you can provide, I can take a look.

    Thanks,
    Nick

The problem was another plug-in: Title Toggle.

The documentation for Title Toggle said that the plugin applied to pages only, not posts, unless more code was added. I didn’t add any.

So the plugin should not have affected the treatment of posts.

In fact, whereas in the edit system for a page there was a toggle to switch titles on or off, no such choice appeared in the edit system for a post.

Nevertheless, when the plugin was set by default to hide the title on pages (so that you had to toggle the title on when you wanted it to show) — the plugin went ahead removed the title on all POSTS, but only when they were listed on the main blog page and not on their separate post pages.

The cure was to set the default in Title Toggle to show titles, and then toggle them off on pages where I didn’t want them to appear.

Gotcha! Glad you found a fix.
