Post Title replaced with a quote (") on the blog site

    A normal text title for a post is replaced with a single quote on the blog site.

    In the post edit window, the title shows as:
    Dimensions (2.1) — Messianic Judaism & LDS Culture Juxtaposed

    On the “posts” window, the title shows as:
    Quote: Dimensions (2.1) — Messianic Judaism & LDS Culture Juxtaposed

    On the blog site, the title shows as:
    Quote

    How do I get rid of the quote and get the normal text back? I’ve tried deleting the title, changing the title text, changing the format of the text (can’t do this), etc.

    Have you tried:
    – Flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches. Also, any op cache or content network cache, as well as Cloudflare, clear those caches.
    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the unedited default Twenty Fifteen theme for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
    – If all the above steps do not resolve the issue, then try MANUALLY updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old wp-admin and wp-includes folders and files on your server before uploading the new ones. Read the Manual Update directions first.

    In asking these questions, are you seeing the quote or the text when you go to the referenced post?

    I have attempted these changes on multiple machines, with different operating systems, and different browsers. Are you suggesting that anyone that wants to view the post has to disable plug-ins to see it correctly?

    Okay, by plug-ins, you do not mean browser plugs-ins, you mean WordPress plug-ins, right?

    As editor, I don’t have the ability to make the suggested changes. So, went to the administrator.

    Changing the WordPress plugins made no difference.
    Changing the theme from SimpleBlog did fix the problem.
