I’m looking to move to this plugin for SEO on my Genesis sites. It’s working fine on a Zigzagpress child theme, but on a site with Maker Pro the blog titles are not displaying the same, they are now showing on the site as h2. Deactivating the plugin returns the display output to the h3. (I can’t install the Extensions plugin, if that fixes this, because my server’s PHP.)

    Hi @acetechnica,

Does the Title Fix extension (which is PHP 5.5.21+/5.6.5+) or Plugin (you can run this one with PHP 5.2+) solve this issue?

The latter plugin isn’t up-to-date per se regarding coding standards, but it’ll do the job just as well ??

It’s odd for a Genesis theme to mess with the site titles. I’ll contact them.
You should also ask your hosting provider to upgrade your PHP version, it will definitely speed things up and make it all more secure.

    Hi @acetechnica,

I’ve contacted Bloom (developer(s) of Maker Pro) regarding this issue.

In the meantime, did the Title Fix plugin work for you?

    Cheers ??

Hi – I deactivated the plugin, and it displayed properly at first, but then reverted. ?@!?

I just now tried the plugin and it doesn’t change things. For some reason the Roboto font is being switched out to display Martel. I’m not sure what to do — totally uninstall SEO Framework?

Thanks for the help with the theme. You can checkout the issue at friendlystreetchurch.org/blog – the title for Easter Services is where the change is – not on the page for the post, just the blog listing. On the Studiopress theme demo for Maker Pro you can see the proper display.

    Thanks,

    Hi David,

The SEO Framework doesn’t yield any permanent alterations to your WordPress installation, it’s one of the fundamental things I keep in mind writing any WordPress software.
When you deactivate The SEO Framework, all should go back to how it used to be (aside from three non-interfering technicalities).

When you refer to the “plugin”, do you mean Title Fix, or The SEO Framework?

I see that you don’t have an SEO plugin active, and that no “blog name” additions are being shown.

It should be e.g. “Easter Services | Friendly Street Church”

This is something that has to be done automatically without The SEO Framework, and is unfortunately indicating that the title is outputted wrongfully.

This is what you should do to fix this issue:

    1. Activate The SEO Framework plugin.
    2. Activate the Title Fix plugin.
    3. Reload the home page once.
    4. Clear your cache, if any.
    5. Title should be fixed ??

Alternatively, if you have access to the theme code, and if you know how to touch it correctly:

    1. Open header.php
    2. Find wp_title( 'something', 'something' )
    3. Change it to wp_title( '' )

    Hi David,

Sorry for the confusion on this! I believe it was because of some CSS along with a specific version of Maker Pro. I’ve updated the theme files so the styling should be the same across any header. Maker Pro doesn’t change any of the title tags, it doesn’t even have a header.php file because it’s a child theme of Genesis.

At any rate, you can download Maker Pro v 1.0.1 from StudioPress and it the styling will work!

If you want to reach out here with any other questions, I’d be happy to help:

I really thought it was about the <title> tag ??
My mistake! The SEO Framework doesn’t make any visual changes to your site. So the Title Fix extension isn’t needed (and won’t do anything) either.

Thanks for clarifying and dropping by @jtgrauke, I hope it all works out!
