Post to Category via URL Link?

I am in the process of setting up a blog which is open to the public to register and become contributors. Once registered, members can only post to one of two categories. I’d like to set this up so that they click on one of two links from the dashboard and they are brought to the editor to post in the category they’ve chosen. Is there any method setup already to apply the the category to a post you are just starting?

I’ve got no problem having to code a solution myself but thought there might be something already which would be a time saving measure.
