Post to Facebook does nothing for older post

When I create a new post on my WP blog and click “publish”, the post is automatically saved to my facebook “page” that I have tied via an app. However, when I decided to catch my new facebook “page” up to date with older posts as well, I thought I could do it by opening an existing post, clicking on the button “Post to Facebook”. The problem is this button “Post to Facebook” appears to do nothing when it is pressed from the message body of a post that has previously been published.
Am I missing something or how do you manage to add a previously published post to a new facebook “page”?
