Thanks for a great plugin, obviously a lot of time and effort is going into it!

I’m trying to use the feed to post feature but my problem is that each time it posts several different posts with one entry each are created instead of one post with several entries.

I have four different feeds, 2 are assigned to 1 category each and the other two are assigned to the same category (a third category).

I tried using the same category for all feeds, different combinations of the number of entries per feed and number of posts per fetch as well as different settings for how often feeds are imported. My problem still remained the same.

I know the plugin can only post what is available in a particular feed.

Hello, and thanks for the screenshots

The way you have it set is to put 3 items from each feed (a total of 12 items since you have 4 feeds – note you have the max set to 20, but 3×4=12 so that’s as many will be pulled in) into one category (free covergirl)…that is how you have it set up…and it looks like it is posting into that category. Note, if there is nothing new in any feed, it won’t pull any more items from that feed in.

I’m not sure, as a result, what the problem is.

Hi Allen, thank you very much for your quick response.

I will let this run for a couple of days and see what happens.

Just to make sure, if I set up one category with, for example 3 feeds link to it and set it up to fetch 3 entries per feed, it is supposed to make one post with 9 entries, and if the feeds are imported twice daily it should make 2 posts (depending of course on the contents of the different feeds).

right…it should bring in 9 entries per import…now, if you’re doing this twice per day, and the feeds themselves don’t have any new items, then nothing will come in. The plugin will only bring in new items and that depends solely on whoever provides the feed.

    Hi Allen

I tested this for a week but is still not getting it to post correctly.

I have two feeds, both feeds are linked to the same category – screenshot.

    The settings – screenshot:
    Post once a day
10 Entries per feed to fetch
    20 total post entries

The feed entries are fetched nicely but the problem is that instead that one post with 20 entries is created, 20 posts with one entry each are created each day.
    screenshot

So instead of 5 posts for the month of July I already have 93 posts.

So your settings say “get me 20 posts per day”, so after a a few days you should have 90 or so posts.

Sorry, I don’t want to waste your time but now I’m confused!

To me the setting say, “post once a day, with 10 entries from two feeds, a total of 20 entries in one post (per day)”

How should I chance this to get only one post per day with a number of entries from the feeds?

    Plugin Author Allen

    (@amweiss98)

    Ok..here is what it says:

“Number of Entries per Feed to Fetch” – so that says I want, say 10 entries from each of my feeds to fetch.

“Number of Total Post Entries per Fetch” – so that say I want a total of, say, 20 post entries per fetch (not per feed – just the grand total).

In any case, whatever you put in the “Number of Total Post Entries per Fetch” box will be the total number you will get per day, or hour or however often you import feeds.

I still can’t get this to correctly feed to post (and believe me, I tried)!

What I want to do is to combine a number of feeds into one post per day with a number of items in it from each feed, similar to your test page page that shows one post with 5 different items in it.

    According to your example;
“So, here is how you solve the settings very easily. Take the number of feeds you have (let’s call this N) and the number of items you want from each feed (let’s call this M), then the number you want to put for the Number of Entries per Page of Output or the Number of Entries Per Fetch), should be greater than or equal to M times N. Example: 5 feeds, 3 items from each feed, total items per fetch should be 3×5=15”

So what I did: For testing purposes I added 5 very active feeds, all linked to the same category.

    My Settings:
How often to import feeds = Daily
Number of Entries per Feed to Fetch = 3
Number of Total Post Entries per Fetch = 15
    Excerpt length = 500

With this I aim to take 3 entries from each feed to create one combined post with 15 items in it per day, but what I do get is 15 posts with one entry each in it per day.

So in other words, 15 entries are fetched correctly but I can’t get it to create one post with the 15 entries, instead 15 posts are created.

Please advise, how do I fix this to make one combined post per day with several entries per post.

What I do see out of all my tests is that the number of posts created in all my scenarios equals the Number of Total Post Entries per Fetch and in all the test there were only one entry made into the created post.

Does it make a difference that my site is on WP Multisite?

are you trying put more than 1 items into each blog post? My plugin cannot do that.

there are no problems on a multisite as far as my tests go (and I haven’t heard from anybody else about problems on a multisite.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, I want combine items from different feeds into one post, so this is not possible with plugin?

    Thread Starter hze

    (@hze)

I was under the impression that you did it here – test page

    Plugin Author Allen

    (@amweiss98)

that is done by putting one feed item into a separate blog post…there is no combination of items into 1 blog post.
