• Hi,

I am using the latest version of the Virtue theme along with the latest version of the “Kadence Toolkit” plugin which adds a series of tools to the standard post editor. I use the columns tool quite a bit to align photos and surrounding text.

It was working fine until today when I have just implemented HTTPS using the WordPress HTTPS plugin. Now when the popup window to select the number of columns appears, you can still select the radio button option for the column format you require but the insert button now appears as hyperlink that will not work.

    Any suggestions gratefully received.

    Thanks
    Greg

  • Hello,

Can you please post a link to your site, as well as to the plugin that you’re using for this? It’s possible the two plugins are trying to do the same thing, or the plugin you’re using is poorly coded and we need to find a different option.

    Hi Kevin,

    My website is https://flyfishingscience.co.uk/

    The plugin is https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/virtue-toolkit/

I tested by deactivating the plugin to ensure that it was providing the post tools; then reactivating but removing HTTPS and running the plugin and using the post column and divider tools to check they run fine as they always have.

    Thanks
    Greg

I mean what https plugin are you using? You shouldn’t have to use a plugin to get ssl on your site. See here:

    Sorry Kevin,

I have the hostgator hatchling plan which has a free shared SSL – see

    https://support.hostgator.com/articles/ssl-certificates/hostgator-free-ssl

They recommend using the following plugin which is what I have used:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wordpress-https/

    Thanks
    Greg

Are you able to deactivate the plugin after configuring SSL? If not, then I would recommend using the method outlined in our tutorial.

That way you wont be tied to any plugin for your SSL and it will be easier to change over if you ever decide to use a different hosting provider.

If you must use the plugin, I suggest contacting the developer to see if they have any insight.

In chrome or firefox right click then click “inspect” while on the page trying to add columns. Can you tell me if there area any errors showing in the “console” log.
