Various wordpress clean up plug-in tools (such as “WP cleanup”) see all of my links as “Orphaned Post Types” and will purge all the links if allowed to complete.

Any idea how to prevent them from getting purged? Is this a simple-links error or an out-of-control cleaner?

    Hi Brucek,

Each plugin is going to have it’s own idea of what “cleanup” means. Basically any plugin which wants to delete all of your simple_link or any similar custom post types is certainly overstepping it’s boundaries.

I took a look for “WP Cleanup” and found 2 plugins matching that name which are both abandoned. In fact, they have been abandoned so long, the WP database structure has since changed slightly. I would recommend not using either plugin because it’s dangerous to have an un-maintained tool changing your database.

That being said, I can’t take a look at all the “Various wordpress clean up plug-in tools”, but I am willing to help you filter a plugin of your choice to ignore simple_link post types. I can’t promise the plugin you choose will be extendable, but if it is, I will show you how.

Let me know which plugin you choose.

    Mat Lipe
