I wanted to confirm, is it normal to not get a 404 when a content type XML sitemap is disabled? It doesn’t show up in sitemap_index.xml and the XML has no entries. But the XML doesn’t give a 404 error.

The same thing is happening with media attachments too. Reason I ask is because taxonomies give a 404.

If this isn’t a normal reaction, could you please give me some ideas of things to try for it to no longer exist?

    Thanks in advanced!

To confirm, are you saying that the post-sitemap.xml is not listed in sitemap_index.xml, but that if you try going to the URL it doesn’t show a 404 error? If so, yes that is the expected behavior.

I was asking that yes, but I was asking in regards to a custom post’s sitemap but I’m assuming the same rule applies.

If so then thank you for the confirmation and you can close this thread.
