url structure for posts

Help…pretty please!
My sites’ posts are under the tab “articles”.
Odd thing is that when i write a new post, the url should be:
1. https://mysite.com/articles/new-post/
instead, the url structure defaults to:
2. https://mysite.com/new-post/
Not sure whats up? The breadcrumbs render correctly as in example 1.
i.e.You are here >> Home >> Articles >> New-Post
