Post with hidden spam, now I’m worried

  • Hi, When I went into my dashboard today, the most recent post was no longer listed under “recent activity”. It was still listed under comments because it had a recent comment. I went in to the post and looked at it and it has a bunch of hidden spam in the post content, which would suggest a spam-bot got into my site. So I tried to delete the post, but when I hit the “delete” I just get a blank page rather than a wordpress page, and the delete does not happen. I am also not able to edit other posts or write new posts, as when I hit “publish”, I again get a blank page (the page address appears as:

    https://kmareka.com/wp-admin/post.php

    but the page is blank and no editing or publishing is happening.

    Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

    The problem seems to be in processing posts — new posts and editing does not process. Could this mean that my post.php file was damaged or changed and needs to be restored? I am able to processes such as moderating comments (marking as spam and deleting) and changing passwords.

    I was able to go in and remove the offending spam from the post and this solved the problem of the post not appearing under “Latest activity.” However, the processing of new posts and edits through wordpress is still not working. Any thoughts on why this is would be appreciated.
