post_type – problems mixing posts and pages

  • Hello,

    I’m having some problems with this plugin, although it could easily be something I’m missing.

    I have one nice tiled page made up of a category of posts using shortcode [wp-tiles] and picking up the settings from the wp tiles global settings. This is working fine.

    I would like to add another grid made up of pages so am trying to use shortcode [wp-tiles posts_query=’post_type=page’] however this shows as blank.

    Oddly if I reverse the situation and set my global settings to display pages rather than posts and then try shortcode [wp-tiles posts_query=’post_type=post’] then I now have a grid made of pages but am unable to also have a grid made of posts.

    Is it possible to have both a grid of pages and one of posts with this plugin?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Ben!

    This is something I have never come across.. Is this site online? If so, can you post a link so I can have a look at what data is coming through?

    In my test setup, I have tile pages with pages and tile pages with posts (that’s a mouthful) – so the good news is that it can work. It’s a matter of figuring out what’s wrong.

    Here’s a thought: are you also applying other settings, like querying categories or using include? If so, try to override these parameters in the shortcode.. like [wp-tiles posts_query='post_type=post&category=']

    Hi Mike,

    Thanks for the reply, I have managed to make it work now by converting some of my pages to posts and setting categories through the shortcode, I found that only worked if I referred to the category by number rather than name. Not a problem once I worked it out though!!
