Hi there!

My name is Elisa from https://ContentLab.io
We currently use Yoast but we’re running into trouble.

Posts that we have marked as no-index within Yoast from the beginning are still showing up in Google! All the proper settings are selected within Yoast to prevent this page from being indexed.

For example, this post: https://contentlab.io/building-a-complete-web-app-with-python-and-cockroachdb/ s
hows up when you Google: https://www.google.com/search?q=%22Building+a+Complete+Web+App+with+Python+and+Cockr%5B…%5D&aqs=chrome..69i57j33i160l3.1108j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Why would this still be showing up in Google with these settings? When you search the article title within quotations, “like this”, the post comes up when it shouldn’t

Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello Sayelisarose,

Thanks for reaching out regarding the indexing of your posts.

Taking the example URL, it has a noindex, nofollow tag and has been excluded from the post sitemap. I performed a site search and that post does not show up in search results from my end. See image. Searching this way is more efficient as it is exclusive to your site.

I used the search term as you have mentioned it and the search results do not show that specific post. Here is a screenshot.

Instead, it is the category/portfolio archive page that shows all the posts under the category, ‘Hands-on Tutorial’. It is not set to noindex but has index, follow. If you set that to noindex, the page will not show up in search results. You can learn more about noindexing different content types at https://yoast.com/help/how-do-i-noindex-urls/
