Posterboard messaging

  • Ref installation at https://www.friendsofabingdon.org.uk/news/events/ a website user has commented as follows:
    “I don’t understand how the little calendar works on the Events page.
    “1. If I navigate to the Events (Calendar) page, it shows APRIL – MAY 2013, a little calendar with left & right arrows, and the three remaining April events and one May event (so far so good).
    “2. If I click the mini-calendar’s left arrow, I get MARCH – APRIL which includes April’s events but only before today (not April’s remaining events).
    “3. If I go left-arrow again I get APRIL only – and this time with no events (even though April does have some events remaining).
    “4. If I now go right-arrow I get MARCH – MAY with what looks like everything in that time-window.”

    It’s confusing behaviour, but I think it is correct – it’s just the messaging at step 3. could be improved. I suggest that no month is shown, and the message instead of “There are no upcoming events to display at this time.” is something like “There are no more previous events to display.”

    Likewise, if I select say 1 July 2013 in the mini-calendar, it displays “APRIL 2013 // There are no upcoming events to display at this time.” I suggest either it shows “JULY 2013” or no month.
