    Hi Annekee,

Apologies for the delay. You just need to set a height for your images. You can do this from the Portfolio edit page under Portfolio Page Options. Does that work for you?

    Kindly,

Alas Hanna, the images in the Above+Image Grid are always cropped to a square, no matter what with or height values I put in there. It used to work fine but after a update (Virtue? Kadence?) they’re always cropped. I think it is in aq-resize.php but I don’t know how to make changes there. Do you have suggestions?

This is the last post with the problem. A while ago it went well, like this post. Same settings.

    Hi @annekee,

I was able to replicate this. I’ll pass it onto the dev team and we’ll get back with you asap. Thanks for your patience.

    Hi again,

I spoke with the developer and he said that images were always meant to be cropped when using a grid. The only reason they weren’t before is because the image uploaded was too small to crop. The crop size is 600×600 px. If you upload an image smaller than that it will just output “as is”.

There is not currently an option in Virtue Free to change this, or even a code snippet so you would have to edit the portfolio template if you wanted to have a custom gallery that wasn’t cropped square. Or upload small images that are not at least 600px tall and 600px wide.

I hope that brings some clarification! Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best,

    Hannah

Thank you for your time Hannah. Correct is that when I upload an image with the width of 599px the images indeed show proportional.

However, a change of code is of course always possible, because cropping images doesn’t happen by magic. But I assume that wouldn’t be commercially interesting for your company. On the other hand, you can download aq_resize.php for free on Github.

    Anyway, alas, but thanks again!
