Postie Plugin is not connecting to the IMAP Server

Google has recently changed their policies about POP/IMAP login. The workaround seems to be creating an “app password” see https://postieplugin.com/postie-gmail/

Could you give more detailed instructions on how to configure gmail for this problem?
a step by step guide would really be appreciated.

The section you mention are the setting on the Postie Mailserver tab and depend on whether you are using POP3 or IMAP.
I recommend IMAP so make the follow entries:

Connection: Sockets
Mail Protocol: IMAP-SSL
Port: 993
Mail Server: imap.gmail.com
Userid: your full email address

The new part if necessary is to set up an “app password” and use that instead of the normal password. How you do this depends on the type of Gmail account you have.

I also have a problem with connecting to IMAP but not with Gmail.

Here’s what my ISP provides:
Secure SSL/TLS Settings (Recommended)
Incoming Server: mail.perey.com
IMAP Port: 993 POP3 Port: 995

IMAP, POP3, and SMTP require authentication.`

But when I test the config.. this is the message I get:
Unable to connect. The server said: IMAP – Could not connect to IMAP server mail.perey.com on port 993. Array

PLEASE ASSIST!!!
Any clues?

You might check with your hosting provider to see if they allow outbound connections on port 993. See https://postieplugin.com/faq/postie-wont-connect-mailserver/

It is possible that MS has disabled IMAP. See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/clients-and-mobile-in-exchange-online/deprecation-of-basic-authentication-exchange-online

I am able to use plugin using cURL but not Sockets. I am getting the following error:

[0] => A0002 NO Invalid login or password

I have 2 websites on that hosting, though one is working fine, second is throwing an error unless cURL is used. Any idea why or what would be needed from my hosting’s side to do for that specific web?
