If i write a new post it takes very long till it is saved. It ends up in a blank mypath/wp-admin/post.php.

After that the post is saved/published.

But Trackbacks do not work(are not send).

    Working with WP 2.0.2

    Any hints?

  • It’s normal to end up with a blank post form (post.php) after publishing a post. At least I think it is. That’s how it works on my two blogs.

But I also have a problem with trackbacks and pingbacks not being sent. This is a weird problem that seems to be affecting some WordPress blogs but not others. I wish we could all get together and compare our setups: number of entries, size of database, plugins, etc. Perhaps we can find a common link among us to help troubleshoot why we are having the problem while others are not.

    WordPress 2.0.2
large database (over 1MB with 400 entries)
lots of plugins (can list if necessary)
Running on Apache server, Mac OS X Tiger server

You shouldn’t have a delay when posting and you should never hit any blanks inside WP – there’s a problem.

For the blanks, remove pingomatic from the Update Services box in Options. Then try a test post.

As for sending/receiving tracks and pings, it’s not a WP fault, if anything it is the host. Have you been here are tried sending to your blog?

When you say you should “never hit blanks” inside WP, what do you mean? After creating a post in post.php and clicking Publish, what should happen? On my WordPress setups, a new post.php window, ready for a new post appears. Is that not right?

I have used TestTrack several times. I can RECEIVE both trackbacks and pingbacks. I cannot SEND trackbacks or pingbacks.

When you say “the host,” what about the host could be the problem? I’m running my own server and have a great deal of control over it. What should I be looking to fix?

Keep in mind that everything else seems to work just fine. You don’t think it’s a memory issue because of the size of my databases? Or the number of plugins? Or the fact that my little server is hosting 2 large and 1 small WordPress blogs?

Where do you think I should look?

I am not the only person having this problem…I’ve been reading posts on a number of threads here. It seems that only some of us have the problem. What do we have in common? I wish we could get together on one thread and talk it out.

I’d really like to get it working right, so I’d appreciate any suggestions you have to offer. Thanks!
