• I’ve configured my wordpress back end to use a specific email address which I’ve also configured with the correct password. All of the information seems to be correct – however when I send an email to the specified email address – nothing happens, I don’t see a bounceback, and I don’t see the post on my wordpress site.

Any clues as to how I can find an error if one exists and why it isn’t working when I send the email to that address?

Also, how often does WordPress check that email address?

    I appreciate any help.

  • I second this post and would ernestly like to see the answer to this.

Have a look at the article on this in the codex.
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Blog_by_Email

Note that you control when WP checks for email (step 3)

I’m having the same problem. I’ve followed the instructions, set up an email account, emailed a post to that account, then opened the wp-mail.php script in my browser. It thinks for a few minutes then says there appears to be no mail. When I check the email account via webmail, there’s an unread email in the account. I’ve checked the email account name and password on the WordPress admin screen and everything looks right to me.

Where else should I be looking for errors?

I finally figured it out. With my host you need to enter the login as ‘username’ not ‘[email protected]’. Don’t know if this is common, but it may help someone else.
