    Hi All,

I’ve got a problem with a WordPress blog which is hosted on a VPS. Everything has been working fine, I have recently upgraded to the latest version of WordPress and have tried solving the problem by deactivating all the plugins and reinstalling the WordPress version but the problem still remains.

Whenever I try and post a new blog post it limits the number of of characters to just 2 sentences and doesn’t publish the rest of the content and in fact it clears the content out of the blog post textarea altogether.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks

    Regards

    Rob

Does this occur using the default unedited theme with all plugins deactivated?

    Hi Pioneer,

I’ve just tried this and the same problem occurs…

That means there is likely an issue(s) with your WP files or the database.

    Please perform a manual update.

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Updating_WordPress#Manual_Update

It is important to make sure you notice if your FTP client reports any files are not uploaded.

Once that is done, make sure to:

Rename all folders in /wp-content/themes/ to old-theme_folder_name and the /wp-contents/plugins/ folder to old-plugins.

It is imperative to know that all files in use are proper as a troubleshooting first step.

Once that is done, download a fresh copy of a default WP theme (twenty-xx) and upload to the /wp-content/themes/ folder.

Since your install will now be fresh (no plugins folders can be found (will be deactivated) and any themes in use will also be (which will force using the default unedited theme)), you will have a clean install of WP to run. If that fails, then it is an issue with the db. That will take a bit more expert help.

    Hi Pioneer,

Many thanks for your help, I gave what you suggested a try and I’m still getting the same problem. The error log ran into 30.4GB so I’ve removed this and started a fresh error log to see if I can identify the issue that way.

I’ve also made contact with my hosting provider to see if it is something their end.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
