Posting with Twitter – Issues

When maximum character count is exceeded for Twitter and I publish a post, there is no notification or error.

So I have to manually use an external counter to count the number of characters on the Twitter post to make sure I don’t exceed the number when I publish.

… and while I understand the issues with this, I am only using %SURL and not the other % parameters. Could you guys just put a raw character counter that updates live as we type in text to the twitter box? Don’t use any computation. And if you want to go further let us manually set character limits ourselves.
