Postrating issue anyone have a suggestion?

The install was simple, I read the docs and put the PHP code in my single.php where it told me to which was – <?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?> the only way I can get the ratings to show is if I click on the “comments” box at the top of my entries, otherwise there’s nothing there. I don’t see why it doesn’t come up by default, as not everyone who rates will want to leave a comment. My CSS is kind of sketchy, and PHP I can’t do anything in. I poked around the script but don’t see what I need to do. Anyone using this script had/have this problem?
