• I’m not really sure when and how this happens but we have had it several times now and it’s always a lot of work to clean up the post when this happens.

I’m not sure when this happens. I notice it at some point while I’m writing the post. It would be great if somebody could tell me how to avoid this.

Wordpress puts the following <p> and <span> tags before and after each phrase:
    <p class=”tw-data-text tw-text-large tw-ta” data-placeholder=”Vertaling” id=”tw-target-text” dir=”ltr”><span lang=”en”>Sentence </span></p>
    OR
    <p class=”tw-data-text tw-text-large tw-ta” data-placeholder=”Vertaling” dir=”ltr”><span lang=”en”><span lang=”en”>Sentence </span></p>

And there are some extra variations. I don’t think they’re of any use.

I could find some WPML related posts, nothing polylang related, but no solution: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/unexpected-html-elements-added-to-page/

    Hello,

I don’t know where these tags come from. But for sure they are not added by Polylang.

    OK @chouby thanks.

    data-placeholder=”Vertaling” means “translation”.
That’s why I thought it might have been related to Polylang.
