Posts becoming 404s intermittently

  • Hi all, on WP 3.1.4 as I can’t update to 3.2+ (PHP not new enough).

    Intermittently all my posts will become 404s.

    To fix it I have to change my permalinks settings to default and then back again, then clear all in W3 Total Cache. All the posts come back after that.

    Problem is I’ve no idea what’s causing it to break. There’s no cron jobs, it doesn’t happen when I publish/edit a new post/page, it appears to be random.

    Any ideas?
