    when i try editing my posts or creating a new posts it no long allows me to use blocks. just edit visual or text.

    This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

    If you can install plugins, install and activate “Health Check”: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/
    It will add some additional features under the menu item under Tools > Site Health.
    On its troubleshooting tab, you can Enable Troubleshooting Mode. This will disable all plugins, switch to a standard WordPress theme (if available), allow you to turn your plugins on and off and switch between themes, without affecting normal visitors to your site. This allows you to test for various compatibility issues.

    I recently up-graded to the latest WordPress version and changed the ‘theme’. As a result, my ‘News’ (Posts) page now shows individual items which have to be ‘clicked’ to display the relevant message and photo, where applicable. Previously, the items were displayed in a ‘toilet roll’ pattern, all ‘visible’. Any advice as to how I might ‘revert’ would be appreciated.

    In addition, another change seems to be that people can ‘comment’ on various pages of the website. I don’t want that and ask if there is some way of ‘disabling’ the ability to comment. Again, any advice appreciated.

    @t-p thank you for getting back to me. I downloaded the health site plugin. when i put on the troubleshoot mode before i even disable plugins i see my posts are working properly and i can edit them as blocks. So it seems its not a theme or plugin issue but now I’m not sure what’s causing it

    You mean your posts are working properly WITHOUT disabling ALL plugins and theme?
