Hi there! I’ve searched for answers but haven’t even found anyone with the same problem. About 2 weeks ago, out of the blue, all our posts on the dashboard side of things got in wrong order. This makes it really hard to keep track of drafts, editing new posts, etc. since we have 12 pages of posts and now they’re all in random order.

Trying to organize them by date doesn’t work.

We have Genesis theme with Metro Child Theme, running WP 3.8.1. Our URL is https://www.aboutmeditation.com

Thanks so much for any assistance with this!

  • Do it still do the same when switched to the default theme (TwentyFourteen)?

I’d be afraid to switch the theme honestly.. What if I lose some settings when I do.. Sorry!

Switching back to the defauly Twenty Fourteen theme is a good debugging step. It will indicate whether the problem is with the theme you are using or not and is one way to narrow down where to look for the problem.

Perhaps take a full backup of files and database just in case first?

If you’re viewing the list of posts, is there any little triangle arrow next/under any of the header titles?

Click on the Date header at the top and posts should be ordered by date — does it list the post in correct order now?

If not, then maybe it’s shown in reverse order (the arrow points up). Click Date again should then do the trick.

Mark, thanks, will probably do that soon! Have to check with our databse/backup person first.

Senff, that’s not the issue, like I said originally – organizing by ‘Date’ in the dashboard doesn’t work either…

@omwoods My apologies, I missed that part.

Did you install any plugins (or maybe they came with the theme) that have any impact on the dashboard settings?

    Figured it out!

An audio player plugin that plays files from FTP directory caused this. I contacted the plugin author who gave me a fixed version of the plugin. Problem solved.

    Thanks for all your help!
