• I come across some of my posts that seem to be normal, but if you look in text editor mode they look like this

while this is the plain text (as seen on my website)

    see the difference? ??

Now my question: how did that ended up there?
I didn’t put it there, I am not even aware what span or span class means.
Could it be by copying texts from another website?

    Thanx beforehand for any answers
    Hans

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

If the problem persists using the 2015 theme with no active plugins, then, yes, it’s likely that this has been copied in from another web page – a practice we do not recommend for this very reason.

Maybe you solved the problem already because the topic started one month ago, but maybe this helps anyway.
I had exactly the same problem. Those span classes appeared when I used Google translate. When you copy the translated part from inside the Google translator and paste in the WP editor you will get all those spans.
You can easily strip all that rubbish by pasting the text inside a plain text editor first and copy again from there.

Thanx DirkD, that was probalby it. I wonder how Google might support such a lousy copy-funtion
