• I know this will seem simple to most of you, but can I install a plug-in that will allow users to have my blogs delivered to them as e mails if they choose this option? Most of the e mail plug-ins seem to be notifications only, not the actual contents of a blog.

    Thank you!

    Gary

  • Feedburner has a blog-to-email option and the full content of the post is delivered. You can also brand it nicely with your logo and site colours.

It also spiffs up your RSS feed, so you can then install the Feedsmith plug-in to automatically redirect your standard RSS feed to the Feedburner version. You can add the email delivery signup form to your sidebar or wherever else you want it.

Zoonini… went to the feedburner plug-in page, or, more accurately, searched for feedburner plug-ins… there’s a million of the widgets!!!

Which one is the one you were referring to?

    Gary

You don’t even need a plug-in (I never bother, myself) – you just go to Feedburner directly (link in my post above), set up your account, and pop the signup box code into a text widget or hard code it into your theme, if you’re comfortable doing that.

Thanks very much, Z. Transom as well… I’ll figure this out!!

p.s. you don’t even need a signup box directly on your site if you prefer – you can just have a text link or put the link on an image, and it’ll open the signup form separately. There are lots of options.

    Examples:

    https://www.lonelythebook.com/loneliness-blog/ (text link in sidebar)

Z… I’m trying to keep up with you! I used my Google account to create a FBurner account (I think)… now reading the help files, looking for the signup box code… I know where the text widgets are on my blog, so once I find the signup box code I should be in good shape… or, will just check out these new links you provided…

    you rock!

Ah, I see… these are examples of blogs that have installed the FBurner e mail subscription widget… not just a notice of posts, I assume, but actual e mails with blog content imbedded…

Yeah, it’s not so obvious. Look under Publicize > Email subscriptions.

And don’t forget to use the Feedsmith plug-in I sent you earlier to automatically redirect your new spiffy RSS feed to Feedburner. ??

Correct. Those are two of my clients using Feedburner’s post-to-email service. Subcribers receive the entire content of the post (or posts) in a daily email.

Hey Z… maybe it would be easier to have you make these connections for me? What would you charge me to hook Fburner and FSmith together on my site? FS, by the way, not tested on WP 3.1

    I guess I lost you!

Heh – just trying to have a life. ?? I work all day on the computer so I try not to spend the entire evening on it as well.

FS, by the way, not tested on WP 3.1

Yeah, Feedsmith hasn’t been updated in a while but fortunately continues to work fine; I have it running fine on a bunch of 3.1.1 installs.

It’s frowned upon to discuss paid work in the forum – you’d need to contact me through my site to get the scoop.
