Posts with blank title and automatic permalink return 404 error
-
I leave the title blank for posts in some of my blog’s categories. The expected behavior is for WordPress to create a permalink for these posts based on the ID number.
I’m experiencing inconsistent success with this behavior. It almost never works:

- https://sumeetjain.com/lists/quotes/258/
- https://sumeetjain.com/lists/quotes/322/
It has worked – but rarely. One example I could find:

As a temporary solution to troubleshoot the problem, I created a post with a blank title, noted the ID, and then edited the post to have the title #[the ID]. So the post title is #353. Then I manually edited the permalink to be a real word, and it worked. The post:

Of course, this is neither a convenient, permanent, solution – and neither is it how the system is supposed to work.
If anyone could help troubleshoot this with me, I’d appreciate it.
Thanks for your time.
