Powerful and almost perfect
-
There are two big capabilities this plugin can give you: editing and/or creating custom roles with exactly the permissions you want, and locking off access to parts of your site so that only users with specific role(s) can read them.
The role editor is simply fantastic. The page access controls are excellent as well – just do realize going in that as of 0.2.4 you may run in to a couple limitations on what that part of the plug-in can do:
– You must edit page access settings one page at a time – the plugin cannot automatically assign permissions changes on a page to child pages.
– Page content is hidden, but not the page title. The page’s existence does show up in places like site search or auto-generated (fallback) navigation menus. If you want to go so far as to remove any indication of the page’s existence from users who are not logged in/are not one of the approved roles, you will need some of your own PHP code to accomplish this.
Even if these are things you may want to address, this plugin is a rock solid foundation for any developer, and a great tool for anyone needing greater control over their WordPress site.
