Powerlifting & Weightlifting – individual sport 1 vs n rather than 1 vs 1 sport
-
Hi All,
I have been going through the instructions and the forum about setting up a custom sport and I’m wondering if I should give SportsPress a try in a customised way, or whether it’s not the right starting point for a “1 vs n” competitor type of sport. example: a race.
My sport is powerlifting and for each event there are categories of players, depending on body weight, age and being male or female. There are teams who train together but when it’s competition time it’s an individual sport.
I thought about setting up teams and having players assigned to them, but I don’t think it will work, if the scores are kept associated with the teams’ victory/defeat/draw.
Would you advise against doing this:
Each lifter set up as a SportsPress Team;
Players left unused;
Create a male and a female competition for each weight category, for each event in a season.The end result I’m after is for each Event I want a league table that shows:
Event = “September 2015 East division meet”
Team “Joe Smith”, body weight = 100kgs, lift 1 = 200kgs, … lift n = 300 kgs
Team “Mike Jones”, body weight = 103 kgs, lift 1 = 205,… lift n = 302.5kgs
…The result for the whole year is the sum and/or the maximum of the individual event scores.
To get the scores I’ll want to calculate the maximum weight lifted by each lifter.
Something like SQUAT =MAX(lift 1, lift 2, lift 3);
BENCH = MAX (lift 4, lift 5, lift 6);
DEADLIFT = MAX(lift 7, lift 8, lift 9)Is this too ambitious? Anyone tried building such a set up for other individual sports, like racing?
Thanks,
