I’ve had ten days since one person has registered on my site normally i get 1,2,3 registrations a day and two people have emailed in that they reg but don;t get a password.

I can manually found that person in the users but they didn;t get sent out password and login instructions.

All this i have noticed since upgrading to MU was fine before for months on end.

I have got Login With Ajax plugin. Unistalled and reinstalled it but no go anything else i could try troubleshot?

  • – it’s not MU. If you say MU, I’ll assumue you were on 2.9.2, which was the last WPMU version.

What numerical version are you on?

Also, in multisite when you are running a network, the registration page is *not* the same.

OK, I selected that it was 3.0.1 when submitting the post.
It’s got it on the right with the post info >>>>>>>>>>>>>

Registration page is not the same? Can u tell me what differences it has and what effect that can do.

    Look at yourdomain/wp-signup.php

Is that where users are signing up?

Also – you say users aren’t getting emails. Is the server actually *sending* emails? Because that’s two different problems.

    Yes, it’s at domain.com/wp-signup.php

I don’t know if it’s getting sent from the server and i do not know how to tell this also!

It’s sending an email to me (the admin) as normal that i new registration has occurred when i manually add user in the admin but the user does not get an email with passwords and conformation etc! So i guess the answer is yes the server is sending it.

Okay, common issue – some email places block those emails. Comcast and hotmail are the two big ones, they don;t even go in to spam, they just dump them.

Do a reverse DNS record on your domain. that’s really all you can do.

Yahoo has also been dinking around with that too.

No good at fixing this yet. I’m trying everything i know but still i’m limited technically.

Uninstalled Login With Ajax, deactivated network login with ajax deleted login with ajax and reinstalled and activated just for the old blog. Nothing changed.

I recall installing Theme My Login before all this happened so I’ve deleted all that plugin still no go! Not sure if this could have changed something.

I am testing with yahoo email but i’m still not getting one registered users. The blog sends out subscription emails via post comments and i can send a mass email out to subscribers in the Posts >> Mail Users Menu.

How is a reverse DNS record done never heard of this one.

I also found a ajax pagination php error at the server for a tubepress page changing thing would this interfere with Login With Ajax also?

I would turn off ALL plugins. It’s standard debugging.

I’ve turned off all plugins but two that do the stats and no still can’t sign up no email sent out.

I looked in the mySQL database settings and a Execute box is unticked, when i select all privileges and save changes and go back in it’s unticked itself again. Isn’t it supposed to be on All Privileges? Would this cause it.

Turn off the stats plugins too. And make sure you get the ones in mu-plugins. Seriously. ALL plugins.

    (@jaffasoft)

Oh no i dread this… is there an easy way to delete users trying to register cause when testing i have to wait two days for the database to delete the an email.

This is a horrible way to have to do things i literally have to try each plugin and register a user loging into email accounts, checking emails, deleting accounts, installing next plugin. There must be a better way to de bug created.

I’ve php a php error file on the server helpfully that can also tell something. Not enjoying this at all.

You can go in and manually delete the email in the database. But seriously, until you turn off all the plugins, we cannot know if the issue if a plugin or something else.

Welcome to server-level software management. ?? You’re running your own version of wordpress.com and if you’re letting users sign up, then YOU are the one who has to do all the work of actually, you know, hosting people. Their data is in your hands.

Just going back a few steps –

    – you said yahoo addresses were not getting emails, I suggested you do a reverse DNS entry. Did you do this?

    – are users at other email addresses getting emails?

    – do YOU get emails from the system?

If the problem is only yahoo addresses do not get emails then it is YAHOO blocking your emails. Do the reverse DNS. Google is your friend.

    Thread Starter Jaffasoft

    (@jaffasoft)

It’s screwing up for all email addresses that’s obvious because I’ve had 40 new people try to sign up during this thread and they can’t not one of them get through.

I’ve created a php error log on the server and it’s generating error reports and the reverse DNS brings back nothing just an ‘unable to resolve’ response, is it my IP i test it on of the host servers?

I’m not uninstalling all plugins until i know how to manually delete email addresses from the tables in the database so i can test it with each plugin after it goes.
