    Yes, but since you did not state if you are using the shortcode or the sidebar widget, we will assume shortcode.
    First: check out the documentation on the the following attributes:

    • above and below
    • launchtarget
    • Shortcode intro on warping HTML

    So, you will want to set an above or below HTML attribute, and also set the launch target to match. Finally set the countdown launch html to a blank space like’a so:

    [tminus t="2013-12-13 13:13:13" before ="hello <strong>this</strong> is the upper html area" launchtarget="above"] [/tminus]

    Can you dig it?

    I am using the shortcode, but as I understand it what you just posted was code for HTML above the countdown, whereas I am trying to make a bit of HTML disappear after the end of the countdown.
