• Resolved The Art Monkey

    (@the-art-monkey)

    Hey Opa!

I was trying out the new version of the plugin (the unreleased one v8.0.03.003) and it looks like we solved the issue of the album covers but there is a new issue. The images are not showing up in the gallery at all.

When I installed the plugin I did a quick check and though the albums look correct when in Album View if you click on any gallery it says there are no images to see in the albums (even though the album covers says there are). The gallery is completely empty no matter how many images are technically in there.

I had to roll my website back to v8.0.01.004 again.

Thought you might want to know the latest!

    Thank you!

    Thanx.
I loaded your backup settings, set the language to italian and it works, see:

Awesome! So I can just set the plugin to Italian and we are good? I was looking for the setting for language and can’t locate it. I must have missed it in some easy spot.

I did a fresh re-install and cleared the cache and it does look like it’s working now. I have no idea what was happening earlier but it seems fixed so I will mark this resolved. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, I am guessing you meant you switched your WordPress site settings from Dutch to Italian to imitate my site. I’m running my site in English (I live in the US) but regardless – all is well now!

Thanks again for the fix Opa!

Well Opa, I have NO idea what is going on but the gallery images are gone again. I rolled back to v8.0.01.004.

I am not sure what occurred but I installed the new version you sent me. Tested it out a few times under different accounts and browsers then thought all was well. When I went back two hours later the galleries were there, and it looked like they had images but when I clicked on any album with images I was told there were no images in the album (and it shows the album as empty.

Not sure where to go from here.

I really thought your site was in italian.
Today i will provide a next prerelease.
If it is still happening with that version, i really need to see that happening with my very own eyes to be able to investigate on it.

    Keep in touch

    Thanks Opa,

My hope is it’s some odd setting I turned on at some point. I have been going through all the settings trying to figure out what it might be. I’ll keep you posted if I think of anything.

    Thank you again!!

Will do and I will report back!

    OK – tried it out.

Did not work – same issues as before.

    1. deactivated and deleted old WPPA plugin
    2. installed and activated new plusgin
    3. check galleries
    4. galleries look good, listings for galleries look correct
    5. spot check a few galleries, everything works
    6. Leave website, close all browsers – WAIT ONE HOUR
    7. return to galleries,
    8. galleries look good, listings for galleries look correct
    9. spot check a few galleries,
    10. Get message “No albums or photos found matching your search criteria.” (or something like that)

It’s like it sees the galleries BEFORE I click on them, sees the images too but something happens in the latest WPPA versions that didn’t happen before. It’s like it’s searching (?) for the images and can’t find them?

What you can try is in version 8.0.03.004 is switching to the pre-rev8 ajax method (i re-implemented that after 8.0.01 because of some issues, maybe yours also)

In 8.0.03.004 there is a selectionbox in:
    Advanced settings -> System -> I -> Item 5: Ajax method
It will show ‘Normal’, set it to ‘Classic’ to get the pre-rev 8 method.

If fail, and only if, try ‘Frontend and Backend: Backend method’

Also, at the moment you have the problem, i very much want to know what the browsers addressline looks…

Cool deal. Did a reinstall – set things up like you asked and all seems well on the initial test. I will check back on the site in a little while to see if it is ‘fixed’ permanently!

    Thank you!

    Thread Starter The Art Monkey

    (@the-art-monkey)

OK – did the first fix – did not work

    Browser line is www(dot)mysite(dot)com/member-gallery/?wppa-occur=1&wppa-cover=0&wppa-album=g2HO5gB2ggoL

Trying next fix. Will report back.

Looks like the second fix worked!

Ajax – ‘Frontend and Backend: Backend method’

I’ll keep watching the site through the day but this might have been it!

Is the solution a good or bad thing in terms of performance or vulnerability? Just curious if there is something on my site I might want to look into.

    Thanks again Opa!
