    Hi Donncha,

I have found that preloaded cache files never seem to refresh (I have them set to expire after one day). The only pages that refresh are the ones where other rules are set to delete them (e.g. the ones that are deleted when a new post is published, or the ones that I have set up manual rules to delete).

One more thing: I currently use your prune_super_cache function to manually delete the cache of certain pages when updated. However, it would be wonderful if instead of deleting the cache, you had a “mark for rebuild” function, which would allow the page to stay cached while updated (as per Cache Rebuild in the preferences). This would give my site a massive overall speed boost, as users would only ever be served cached pages, but I could still keep them up to date.

  • That’s strange. Have you enabled debugging and verified that garbage collection is running?

Well it’s in preload mode, so garbage collection isn’t supposed to run, correct? When I do run garbage collection, it does work fine. I was under the impression that in preload mode the cache files would be replaced when they were loaded in a browser after expiring. Perhaps my impression was incorrect? If they are never replaced, then what is the point of the expiry time?

All of this would be moot if you are able to implement my “mark for rebuild” suggestion. If Super Cache could do a rebuild instead of simply deleting cached files on all updates (as it already can do with Cache Rebuild feature under more limited circumstances), then the site could stay constantly cached, but also constantly updated.
