I’ve been using OMGF successfully for a while now. However, recently I discovered the “Preload key requests” recommendation (in the Lighthouse Report) for OMGF-webfonts and Font Awesome web fonts. I didn’t change anything with the OMGF plugin recently.

What would you recommend to do with this?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @matthijsdebooij,

I’m happy OMGF is helping you raise your site’s performance! ??

I ran an audit in Chrome for the site you mentioned, but I’m not seeing this recommendation. Could you give me a bit more information?

    – Is it on a specific page?
    – What settings are you using for the audit?
    – Are you using CSS optimization plugins?

Sure. I ran the test with webpagetest.org with default settings + enabling Lighthouse report. See here: Lighthouse report

Is use Autoptimize for CSS optimisation.

    @matthijsdebooij,

Okay, so this is a tricky one.

The thing is: since you’re using a CSS optimization plugin (Autoptimize), there is only one big CSS file. And since the preload-attribute can only added per stylesheet (and not per font, for example) you can only add the preload-attribute to the stylesheets created by Autoptimize. This means it’s basically out of OMGF’s control.

You could try playing around with the Preload setting in Autoptimize? Autoptimize > Extra > Preload specific requests. Try adding one of the mentioned requests to the list, to see if that solves it!

Do you mean Autoptimize > Extra > Preconnect to 3rd party domains (advanced users)? I don’t see a Preload specific requests option in Autoptimize…

fyi; preload is coming in AO 2.6, if you’re interested you can download & run the beta right away ??

How do you always do that Frank @optimizingmatters? If I say your name out loud right now, will you stand in my office in a few minutes? ??

Anyway, sorry for the (partial) misinformation @matthijsdebooij, I’ve been a long time beta tester of Autoptimize, so I forgot that the preload feature is currently only available in beta.

It works really well, though. So I suggest you use the beta as well. ??

    Groetjes! ??
