    Here is a live example:
    https://www.chrisbiagi.com/alt-wp/testimonials/

I currently have “Character Limit” in the “Widget” tab set to 275 characters. It’s working fine to abbreviate some of the very long testimonials, but there are also some (but not all??) shorter testimonials that display with a “Read More” link, even though the complete testimonial is already shown on the main testimonial page. None of these are actually greater than 275 characters.

    I’m referring to these testimonials:
“I will use this knowledge to create my own music” (272 characters)
“One of the best teachers I’ve ever seen work” (237 characters)
    “Five stars” (271 characters)
    “A great instructor” (225 characters)

I have “Force ‘read more’ links?” in the “Premium” tab OFF. Also, there are a couple very short testimonials that show without the “read more” link, so it doesn’t seem to me like there is any setting forcing the link to show on all of them regardless of length (“Very well taught” and “Great teacher” don’t have the “read more” link). I also checked for extra space characters in all of the above listed testimonials, there doesn’t seem to be any extra invisible stuff hiding in there.

BTW, disregard the title being shown out of order on the single-testimonial view; that is a different issue I haven’t fixed yet.

Are you positive about having the latest versions of free and premium testimonials widget?

Have you made sure to check your Testimonials > Settings about the options?

Can you then please recheck your widget and make that’s the widget being displayed on the front end?

I just now updated the main plugin from 2.11.2 to 2.11.3. Premium plugin is 1.11.1 (is this the latest? I assume I would see an update notification for it in my WP plugins page). There doesn’t seem to be any change after I updated.

Have you made sure to check your Testimonials > Settings about the options?

Here are my current settings, I haven’t changed anything since I started this thread. Let me know if you need to see anything else.

Yours is the only testimonial plugin I have installed (if that’s what you mean..?). I’m displaying it with the following shortcode in my Testimonials page:

    [testimonialswidget_list]

Also just for the heck of it I double checked that there are no spaces etc at the end of the text on the problem testimonials – there aren’t.

    Thanks!

Given you’re up to date and such.

I think… The problem is related to how I strip out non printing characters to check testimonial lengths for applying read more or not.

I’ve added this as a bug to work on for the next update.

The current premium is 1.11.2. You should be able to get it by clicking on Check for updates on the Dashboard > Updates panel.

    That was fast ??

I checked the Update page, but there’s no update notification for the premium plugin.

Nevermind, the update thing showed up (it wasn’t available earlier.. weird). Updated premium to 1.11.2 – problem still happening.

Problem fixed. I checked bare content later in the truncate method, but not earlier.

I’ll make a release early next week.
