Preselect recipient

I have a general purpose contact form, where the first field is a select (using pipes) that allows the user to select who to send the email to.
That’s all working great, but sometimes I want to redirect them to the page, and have that field already set to a specific recipient, by passing a parameter in the URL.
E.g. On a page I want to have a link that says “Contact Alan”, and when it is clicked it goes to the contact form and “Alan” is already selected as the recipient.
Can this be done?
