Presenting my catagory

  • I feel that my ‘interviews’ category at https://www.rapnews.co.uk has such a long archieve, that the page is too long and is far too slow loading.

    Has anyone got suggestions of how I can present the category?

    I was thinking that if there’s possibly a way to slice the archieve in half, so perhaps A-J was displayed on the first page, with a link at the top for K-7.

    I was wondering what change’s I’d have to make and how. I’m quite a novice at this game.

    Also, I was wondering where to define the length of the text beside each post link on the archieve. As you’ll see there’s only two lines of the post next to each post link. I’d perhaps like to extend that so the entire post ‘excerpt’ is shown.

  • Well, for me that catagory doesn’t load slow. And I’m on a shitty dial up like Juno lmao! Which normal takes me forever to load a page..so I don’t see changing anything will help much. It loads just fast enough for me.. Others maybe…who knows…

    As for the other issue, I know of what you’re talking about, but since I’m drinking my mind is else wheres lmao! Moshu or some other moderator can help with it, cause I’m starting to go into lazy mode now hehe..

    What I’m guessing you’re asking about is: instead of having a partial Text by the link ( …. at end of it, you want full text) right….?

    there IS a way to limit the number of posts it calls for that page, and put a Next Page / Previous Page link (with whatever word you want) that goes to the next batch of headlines/excerpts.

    However I tried your page and it loads plenty fast, with it being mostly a long text and links list. It functions nicely as-is. I think if you get double that amount of links, you might really want to break it apart then.

    On the other hand I would also like to know how to make a Glossery style where there’s links to A | B | C | D | Etc. etc. so if you find out this could be useful

    Thanks for the advice guys. Glad its loading fast for you. I think i’m just being too anal. It doesn’t load as fast as say…my ‘release dates’ page. but then i guess thats just life cuz they’re different sizes by a long way.

    would you know how to change the character limit of the lists in the archieve, so that there’s more text before the ‘more’ …’s.

    also dgold. nice site. i’m interested in podcasting. is it easy.
