• Hello

“Press It Youthtopia” is on my browser bar, and I tried it today for the first time. (Firefox 1.0 browser)

It changed the blank spaces in the post’s title to “20”, and made some other change’s in the URL that it automaticallyl generated.

Ideas to fix this? … Thanks very much,

    RB

  • Nothing to fix – %20 is a perfectly good way to handle spaces in URLs.

    Are your URLs working okay?

    Thanks, vkaryl, for your reply.

Before I could test the affected URL, I changed it and put in the “correct” URL without the characters.

After getting your reply, I tried to duplicate the problem: I “Pressed” the National Geographic article again. … The first time I tried this the “20” character appeared in the title of the post, as well as the URL.

This time there was no problem at all: no “20” anywhere. … So I think I’m OK now, but I can’t imagine why all those 20s first appeared.

Maybe it has something to do with “first pancake” factor: my wife tells me to throw the first pancake to the birds: the first time never comes out right.

Thanks again for the quick reply … RB

It’s odd that it showed the %20s once and not again, but as long as your links are working, that’s what counts!

I’ve had a similar problem. It was when I’ve used the PressIT bookmarklet in Firefox _AND_ when I wasn’t logged into WordPress at the time. It opens the login box, and then I’ve logged in. Then the spaces are 20%, and : / are also replaced. However, if I’m logged into WordPress at the time, and I don’t get the login box, but go straight to the pressit popup, then it’s fine.

I’ve also mentioned it in this thread
